He is the founder of the OC-LA Mobile Surgery Service in early 2019. He is a Board-Certified Specialist in canine and feline species practice since 2011, and re-certified his ABVP Board-Certified Specialist status every 10 years since then through the qualification process. 

Previously, he opened up a private veterinary practice in South Orange County, CA starting from a scratch in 2007, powered through "the great recession", and sold his practice a little over 12 years later for good reasons.

BOARD CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Dr. Song has the distinction and status of earning a Professional Certification from the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners. He is dedicated to deliver superior, comprehensive, multi-disciplinary veterinary service to cats and dogs. Board-Certified Specialists offer proven knowledge and expertise above and beyond other veterinarians and have earned the privilege to specialize in the treatment of dogs and cats.
  • Becoming a Board-Certified Specialist entails a very rigorous course of additional studies and examinations, which takes a minimum of 3 years.

  • Dr. Song is also a Certified Acupuncture Veterinarian (CertAqV) through Chi Institute, FL.

 

 

EDUCATION and MAIN CLINICAL EXPERIENCE:

  • He completed an additional year of specialty training, as rotating intern veterinarian at a specialty practice, California Animal Hospital, in West Los Angeles. During this year, he worked with many board specialists including Dr. Steve Ettinger, DACVIM (The co-author of Textbook of Veterinary Internal Medicine).

 

  • Upon completion of his rotating specialty training, Dr. Song continued his education at the University of Missouri-Columbia Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital (UMCVMTH), Columbia, MO as a surgery specialty staff veterinarian in Small Animal Surgery. He had great experiences in all referred orthopedic and soft tissue procedures, and also teaching senior year veterinary students. Work with Drs. Derek Fox, F. A. (Tony) Mann, James Tomlinson, and Jamie Cook.
  • He is a member of Honor Society of Veterinary Medicine, The Society of Phi Zeta.

  • He was the founder of the private veterinary practice in South Orange County for over 12 years. He came out of the practice in 2019. Since then, he has been providing his mobile surgery services to veterinary practices in LA, Orange, and San Diego counties. 

LECTURES and PUBLICATIONS:

  • Dr. Song has lectured locally, nationally and internationally. He has given lectures at the Surgery Symposium of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS); International Symposium of the Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care Society (ISVECCS); Phi Zeta Research Symposium, University of Missouri-Columbia College of Veterinary Medicine, MO; SCVMA Chapter meeting, Orange, CA

 

  • He published 1 surgery experimental study as the first author and 3 additional papers as a coauthor. His publications are available in veterinary journals.

ADDITIONAL CLINICAL EXPERIENCE:

Attending world class Continuing Educations (CE) wet-labs 3-4 times every year. Viticus Oquendo Center, Dr. Beale’s Nexus Veterinary CE, ACVS, VOS, VSO conferances are the great sources for updated surgical technologies and equipment.

 

Dr. Song is a member of prestigious veterinary organizations including the SURGE (mobile surgeon community), the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners, the American Veterinary Medical Association, and the Southern California Veterinary Medical Association
